      There are many services and resources available to help.  The state departments of Children and Families, Education, Health, and Human Services, along with other partners are committed to helping.

Important information from the office of FEMA: Anyone who suffered structural damage to their home due to hurricane Irene (ie water damage, roof, foundation, etc), please call FEMA or apply for assistance online- register immediately. Click here for more info or visit www.disasterassistance.gov or www.fema.gov

        Due to the severe nature of flooding caused by Hurricane Irene to residential homes & structures in New Jersey, & the repetitive flooding since 2007 in New Jersey, we understand there is a greater interest in FEMA Mitigation grants, especially in regards to the acquisition & elevation of homes.  Therefore, NJOEM is seeking data & information to obtain a better understanding of the impacts of the flooding to your community, to assess your needs & better deliver Mitigation with he resources that become available as a result of the recent Presidential declared disasters (DR #4021).

        To do this, NJOEM is asking that each municipality work cooperatively among its agencies to identify the residences in your community who have expressed interest in mitigating their property, either through elevation or acquisition of their flood damaged structures.  This information we are looking for is as follows:

        1.  Number of interested homes in your community (acquisition/elevation), including addresses;
         2.  Identify those structures that are potential substantially damaged properties; and
         3.  Residential/Business targets that do not have Public Assistance backing or are not eligible for funding.
